Udaipur, formerly the capital of the Mewar Kingdom, is a city in the western Indian state of Rajasthan, India. Founded by Maharana Udai Singh II in 1559, it’s set around a series of manmade lakes and is known for its lavish royal residences. The City Palace overlooking Lake Pichola, is a monumental complex of 11 palaces, courtyards and gardens. Lake Pichola is an artificial freshwater lake created in 1362 AD.

The Monsoon Palace, also known as the Sajjan Garh Palace, is a hilltop palatial residence in the city of Udaipur, Rajasthan in India, overlooking the Fateh Sagar Lake. It is named Sajjangarh after Maharana Sajjan Singh of the Mewar Dynasty, for who it was built for in 1884.
